Abstract: The process of transportation of passengers on inter-regional routes of general use is investigated in the article. It is established that long-distance passenger transport correspondences have fluctuations that are observed in time. Such variations can be attributed to changes in the volumes or directions of passenger transportation during the day, which are described by many researchers. In addition to the above, it is known that in the system of intercity passenger transport it is possible to observe the existence of processes for the formation of predicted changes when considering the period of transportation during the week. In this case, there is a corresponding change in the characteristics of volumes and directions of passenger correspondence on the days of the week. Similar fluctuations also occur in the consideration of the state of correspondence during the year. Intercity passenger transport systems have as their objective the functioning of a qualitative transport system and safe satisfaction of the needs for the movement of people. The presence of a stable route network scheme can be considered one of the requirements to the quality of passenger service. This leads to the need to take into account the influence of the environment of the functioning of the system in the organization of its functioning, subject to the restrictions.

Abstract: In multi-attribute grey target decision making, decision makers may have indifference preferences towards some attribute values such that some superior index values are no different within a small scope or some inferior index values are indifference within a small range. So the target centre domain consisting of some superior values and the target edge domain comprising some inferior values under some attribute were proposed based on the grey target decision theory. Based on the two domains, the Hamming distance of each index value to its target centre domain can be calculated. Following this, the original Hamming distances can be normalized in a linear method individually. Then the decision can be made by the integrated target centre distances considering each attribute’s weight. A case study indicated that the generalized grey target decision method improved easily and combined with other theories can address the decision makers’ indifference attribute value preferences with its concise and simple technique compared with the conventional grey target method, which is superior in handling many feasible alternatives with little difference of superior values or inferior values.

Abstract: This study examined the relationship between tourist attractions in Taiwan among backpackers from Mainland China. In particular, we collected itineraries shared online by backpackers. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis and SNA. Comparison of where they want to go and where they actually go reveals interesting insights that are helpful in order to examine preference and the decision-making process of Mainland Chinese backpackers. These results can assist tourism practitioners and policy makers to better understand the perception of Taiwan among Chinese backpackers. Managerial implications will be discussed.

Abstract: Makerere University has, in the recent past, climbed up the academic and research ranks, globally, and this has been supported by excellent information services, covering all available information resource formats and targeting users in the university community with varying information needs and information seeking behaviour. The metadata of such useful information resources is Machine-Readable. The major objective of this paper was to explore the level of data sharing at Makerere university library, focusing on audiovisual and multimedia collection. A semi-structured questionnaire (online and print) was administered to Library staff at Makerere University. The data were qualitatively and quantitatively analysed using simple percentages and recorded in tables and graphs. Of the 22 target respondents, a response rate of 81.8% (18) was realized. The results of the paper revealed that the majority of the librarians were not aware of the functionality of the LOD concept and the semantic web. Majority (88.9%) of the librarians were involved in data processing and entry for the general library collection, 18.8% of them are involved in data processing and entry for audiovisual and multimedia collection. It was further revealed that the data at Makerere university library is not linked to open data cloud and therefore not discoverable through the semantic web. The most prominent benefit of LOD cited by librarians was the opportunity to eliminate or reduce recreating existing descriptors already elaborated by other experts. The major challenges to linking data to open data cloud at Makerere university library were lack of skilled staff and lack of awareness about the concept of LOD.
